So begins another semester

It's the first day of class for the winter semester. My last semester ended really well - I finished with a 74%. I was really happy with that considering I missed a month of class with my moms death AND I only got 65% on the midterm. So to bring it up that much made me really happy with my effort.

Hockey is improving much better than when I last wrote. The lines are coming together and with only two regular season games left we seem to be peaking at the right time. My average is still the highest in the league, but it really hasn't recovered since the first games of the season.

Alot of things missed

So begins another school class. Well the weight loss I wanted to achieve is going slower than I thought I'm nowhere near my goal but that is OK cause alot of stressers in my life the past month have let to resorting to comfort foods and lack of gym time. I have since gotten back on track. Also my hockey days and times were all over the map - some on Saturday and some through out the week. I really could not get in any kind of routine. Now my hockey is on every Friday with the odd Tuesday thrown in .

Hockey seems to be getting better are team has made a few trades and gotten rid of few of our weaker players and got a decent guy back in return. Our league likes parody amongst the teams and we were a little weak. I still am fighting with my timing; my legs are alot more muscular and I have a better solid core. The amount of power needed to make the save is less but I am still using same power as before so I'm going down before the puck gets there. Hopefully by playoffs my timing will be perfect.

Back in the Saddle

As most of you that read Sarah's blog know my mother passed away on October 19. It was a rough time for me and my family. The last two weeks have been such a blur; almost a dream. I don't think I'm ready on here (at least not yet) to tell you what happened and for reasons one might think of. A lot of it has to do with being the go-between the hospital and my family (all my siblings live in B.C. so I would call them twice a day to update them on her status). I have repeated the story so many times it has become almost like I was an information officer, not really giving it the honour and remembrance it deserves. Don't get me wrong - telling everybody has been one of the best things I could have done to grieve.

I have also learned that funeral homes, cemeteries and really anything in the death business is incredibly expensive, it almost seems like a money grab. Because I'm in accounting, I wonder what their expenses are and how much profit they make.

I'm back to work and school, trying to get back to my regular routine. One thing that hasn't wavered is my hockey. I went to two games; once while she was in hospital and one after she had passed. I wasn't going to but Dad asked me to go and I respected his wishes. I was so glad I did; the hockey rink is my sancutary, its my quiet time. Also the league did an amazing tribute on their web site and as well they did a moment of silence for her the game after she had passed. It was moving and I know my father was really moved by it.

Rest In Peace Della June W.
You will be missed.

just a quickee

Hey all

Small class so I am not going to get much written today so I will keep it short and sweet.

I'm trying to get down to my ideal playing weight of 185 and at this point I have 40 to go. My goal is to be down to that on my birthday which is at the end of November. This may be a challenge, seeing as I can't get to the gym like I want to with work, class, and hockey. I wish the gym was open 24 hours instead of just until 11pm.

I think im going to have to find ways to get some extra physical activity. Any suggestions? Deit, I dont think is an issue: for the most part I consume (on average )between 1,000 to 1,800 calories a day.

Class time

So I have decided when to write in order to keep me on kinda schedule cause if I don't, I'll only post once a year. That time is in my class - it may take me 2 hours or all class to do but leading the busy life like I do and I know my avid readers await my posts. (HA! Another joke!)

Speaking of class, its going well we are almost at the midterm. One pet peeve of mine is every class I'm in there's some idiot that must prove his/her answers are right even though its cut and dry - only one way to do it. (I'm studying Financial Accounting. Seriously, only one way to do it.) Buddy, face it - you were wrong, correct your mistake and get over it. Now we have to spent have the class explaining over and over why you're wrong and the teacher is right. So aggravating.

As most of you know, I talk about my hockey a lot so tonight is no exception. This season has been a weird one to say the least - it started as awful as the last one finished and has slowly gotten better from week to week. That being said, my team in front of me is about the weakest its ever been so it means I have to be pretty much perfect every game in order for my team to win. (And I am far from perfect!) So safe to say it is more of a challenge but it keeps me on my toes and very, very busy on the ice.

Two blog posts in a month; I'm on my way to being a better blogger already!

Horrible blogger. Yes, yes I am.

Wow its been almost a year since I posted.

I have been meaning to write (honestly, I have!) but when it comes right down to it something usually takes precedence, whether it be a video game, hockey or just plan laziness. I also feel that when I write it has to be long and well thought out. With me having Sarah edit these posts so that you guys can understand what exactly I'm trying to say and my grammar and spelling is the worst on the planet.

So my plan is to write more shorter and more to the point posts, mixed in with long winded ramblings. With me having alot to say and wanting to share it with you all and with the shorter posts I can ease the work on Sarah cause I know how much she loves to edit these. I think she has had to capitalize more I's than any one in history. I am also using this blog to improve my grammar and what not. This post really did have a purpose over than me making excuses for not posting.

Hmm now where to start me and Pookey hit our two year anniversary just the other day thinks are looking much better than when we started two years ago.

Now schooling on the other hand kinda hit a bit of a snag when first started my CGA my college degree was good enough to get it. Due to recent changes you need to have a university degree that just means an extra year of schooling. So instead of 34 I will be 35 when I get my CGA. Good thing about it is at the end of the day it will earn me 30 to 50k more a year.

I think I'm going to end this post here cause well its almost time for the gym and the Bulls season has started again so there is plenty to do. cause now if I don't go to the gym I feel crappy and I'm starting to see the transformation of my beer keg to a six pack. (Ha! Lame joke).
